Jonas and The Backyard Circus

Project Description

PROJECT DETAILS

Jonas is a 13 year old boy and the dream of his life is to keep the circus he has created in the backyard. He was born in a traveling circus, but a few years ago, his family decided to leave the circus behind and settle in a violent neighborhood on the outskirts of Salvador, in northeast Brazil. Jonas has never adapted to this new lifestyle, and that’s why he created his own circus, a real circus, at the back of his home yard. But maintaining the circus is becoming increasingly difficult. Jonas is growing and adolescence is imposing itself implacably with thousands of new challenges. As Jonas’ circus crumbles, he realizes his powerlessness to change the end of this film and takes us on a journey in which we face a big question: what do we do with our dreams when we grow up?
